Sing, hum, whistle or play one note at a time. Record it or drop in an audio file, and Melody to MIDI writes the notes for you. It runs in your browser: your recordings and files are analysed on your own computer and are not uploaded.

How it works

From a voice or an instrument to editable notes.

Record or importRecord from your microphone (up to 3 minutes), or drop in an audio file.
Pick a profileVocal / Humming, Woodwinds & Brass, Strings & Guitar, Solo Bass or Whistling. The waveform shows the detected pitch before you convert.
Edit and exportOpen the notes in the MIDIGEN studio's piano roll, move, resize, delete or add notes, then export the MIDI file.

Good to know

  • Vibrato and small pitch wobbles are smoothed, so one sung note becomes one MIDI note. Loudness becomes velocity.
  • More controls: noise gate, vibrato smoothing, an optional scale lock and the tempo the notes are written at.
  • It follows one note at a time: a single voice or one instrument. It does not split chords or full mixes.
  • Clean, close-miked recordings give the best results.
