Mood Flipper
Same melody, nine moods.

Drop in a melody as MIDI, or pick one of the public-domain demo tunes, and Mood Flipper writes five harmonisations of it side by side: sad, gospel, jazz, villain and anime. Play each mood, pick one, then open it in the studio to edit. Everything runs in your browser.

Mood Flipper showing one melody with five mood cards and their chord progressions

How it works

From a tune to five progressions to editable MIDI.

Give it a melodyDrop a .mid or .midi file (the highest single-line track is taken as the melody), or pick a demo tune and set the tempo. The key, length and time signature are read for you.
Pick a moodEach mood card shows its chord progression in Roman numerals and chord names. Press play on a card to hear the melody over that harmony.
Open in the studioOpen the chosen mood in the studio with the melody and chord tracks laid out, edit the notes and export the MIDI file.

Good to know

  • The melody itself is never changed; only the chords under it are.
  • A clear single-line melody works best. Chords and full arrangements are not split apart.
  • Each Regenerate gives a new reharmonisation; click a chord to try its alternatives, or use the studio to fine-tune.
